360° closure inspection at the conveyor

The newly developed Checkmat for 360° closure inspection provides dependable monitoring of container closures directly at the conveyor. The closures are checked for presence, height/skewing, damage and colour at a rated output of max. 42,000 cans per hour. The great advantage of this inspection mode at the conveyor is that the containers do not have to be touched. This means that changing over to a different type is a simple matter, no new handling parts are needed, and wear and tear are avoided. The closures are inspected by two high-resolution camera units with 1024 x 1280 pixels and 12-bit grey-scale resolution. The light source is an LED flash unit, which requires no cooling and reaches an average useful lifetime of more than eight years. For remote maintenance, Teleservice provides a full-access option for camera images, parameters, programs and logs via a modem or the internet. Since the Teleservice link can be established only by the customer, this means maximised security against undesired access.
