Krones supplies alcohol handling for Kuemmerling

"The gentle bitters" Kuemmerling, which stands for having a good time in good company has developed into a popular trendy spirit. Every day, about one million bottles with their distinctive conical shape leave the production facility in Bodenheim. This requires maximum utilisation of technology and maximum reliability. Kuemmerling has assigned this task to Krones: alcohol handling, the mixing unit and the sophisticated process control system are supplied by Krones.
The process line operates with an output of 100 hl final product per hour. Alcohol and liquid sugar are supplied to a specially designed alcohol reception station where the alcohol is immediately diluted with water to a non-critical concentration and fed to the storage and mixing hall. Alcohol base, liquid sugar, demineralised water and a variety of herbal essences are mixed continuously and with maximum precision in an automatic Krones Blending System. The liquid is filtered and left to age for a specified time. Then, the Kuemmerling half bitters is ready for bottling.
The alcohol reception station has been designed as separate explosive area in compliance with all regulations in force. The specially enclosed explosive zone is equipped with forced ventilation for discharging possible vapours into the open. The storage and mixing hall, too, was built completely anew. It stores the alcohol base in tanks. To guarantee maximum safety, Steinecker have designed all field devices for low voltage.
