Variopac tray packer for HDPE bottles

Shamrock Farms operate a new Krones rinser-filler-BLOC for filling ESL milk in 8-, 12-, 32- and 62-ounce HDPE bottles at a speed of 24.000 bph.
The Krones Variopac tray packer is the last stop on the line before palletising. The HDPE bottles are placed on a cardboard pad and overwrapped in plastic film, which is then shrunk to the package in a heat tunnel. There are substantial cost savings in comparison to the traditional full corrugated box that Shamrock Farms uses for most other products. It is not necessary to deal with return packages, and less corrugated paper is used. Another feature that is significant to technical director of the dairy company is the fact that package integrity can be achieved although the Variopac does not use any glue. The bottles come out clean and appealing – without glue and cardboard residue.
The fully automatic, continuously operating Variopac packer is equipped with servodrive technology, provides easy access for the operator and can process films of different qualities. Depending on the version, it produces shrink packs, tray or pad packs. Additional modules such as handle applicator or CD inserter allow for individual pack conception.
