Labelling PET bottles: with reel-fed or precut labels  …

The Hellefors Brewery in Sweden has opted for non-returnable PET. The continuously expanding PET market has necessitated another line at the Swedish soft drinks specialists, for bottling cider, soft drinks, fruit squash and water. Krones has supplied the entire line, including the process technology, in this case a VarioClean CIP system and a Contiflow 30/2 beverage mixer. In addition, the complete package incorporated a Contiform S10 and an 80-valve, mechanically controlled Mecafill VKP-PET short-tube counterpressure filler, together with an SV screw-capper, a Checkmat F-G for closure and fill level inspection, plus an Accuflow buffer table.
For labelling, Hellefors can choose between reel-fed wrap-around labelling on a Contiroll or paper labelling with a Prontomatic, since the two labellers are installed one behind the other.
The labellers from the Contiroll family have been designed as rotary machines, and handle film labels or reel-fed label papers. Depending on the label material involved, leading and trailing-edge gluing with hotmelt is performed, or full-surface gluing with cold adhesive. The Prontomatic labeller has been designed for cold-glue labelling, and dresses the containers in body and shoulder labels. The cold-glue labellers can be changed over to different container and label sizes in next to no time. The labelling stations are each horizontally adjustable on a cross-slide.

Downstream, another Checkmat monitors the labels’ positioning, before the bottles are passed to a Variopac TFS 60 for end-of-the-line packaging. Palletising is performed by a Pressant in conjunction with a Robot 3A.
