Sleeves – flexible plastic container labelling

Sleeves are a highly appealing product dressing variant for plastic containers. As the sleeves fully enclose the containers, they offer a lot of space for advertising messages and product information.

Two different sleeve types can be used:

• Stretch-sleeves of stretchable film, and
• Shrink sleeves that are shrunk to the container shape under steam or hot air

Both sleeve types can be applied to the cylindrical or slightly round part of plastic containers without glue. The flexible films compensate the stretching of containers after filling, and they fit tightly even after opening the containers.
Shrink sleeves are also suitable for non-returnable containers with conical or square bases. And not last, they can be used as tamper-evident seals in the neck area.

An example for sleeve labeller is the inline variant of the Sleevematic DS. The sleeve is pulled over the entire container by a lowering device and positioned flush with the base. Once the sleeve has been transferred to the bottle, it is then shrunk onto the bottle in a steam tunnel.
Sleeving technology creates quite a few advantages: The machine doesn’t have to be cleaned after every shift. Since no glue is required, a glue heater isn’t needed either. The Sleevematic DS Inline also provides exceptionally short change-over times when different containers or sleeves are scheduled. Fitted with hinged guard doors, the machine features a transit conveyor with its own frequency-controlled drive.
