Ingenious non-bev solution - line management at Numico

Numico is a successful company specialized in baby food and clinical nutrition. Numico’s baby food products range from specialized nutrition for babies and breastfeeding mothers to infant milk formula for toddlers.
Near the end of 2005, at its Zoetermeer facility near Rotterdam, Numico (Nutricia) commissioned three identically constructed lines for 125-ml to 500-ml HDPE bottles, rated at speeds of up to 24,000 bph. Krones was asked to provide coordinatory line management and clarify all the interfacing involved, and to realise data transfer to the higher-order production planning system. Krones has furthermore installed an LDS Line Documentation System and its SIPS maintenance software package.
The automatic production data acquisition by means of the LDS Line Documentation System allows for recording and analysing the production data, and thus monitoring the line efficiency in the long term.
Preventative maintenance is enhanced by carefully incorporating specific service intervals in the production programme according to a schedule based on a recommended number of operating hours. The SIPS maintenance programme ensures high line availability, providing preventive maintenance and service for all individual machines.
Besides these IT solutions, Krones is supplying the entire conveyor technology for the three lines, including the Accutable buffer systems, and for each of the dry ends, a Pressant Compact palletiser, already featuring the new flush-grid-belt grouping station and a motorised turning unit. This technology allows for handling different pack sizes without turning unit changeovers.
