The beverage can – an "old" topic

Beverage cans have been an established package since a long time. The tin can, which was used as a beer container in the USA in 1933 for the first time, has in the meantime undergone numerous trends and changes. Then, the 0.33-l cans weighed 82 grams. Now, the weight of a tinplate can is approximately 22 g. The aluminium cans with a sheet thickness of 0.25 mm weigh only 11 g. Weight, of course, is not the only discernible change: Opening mechanisms and design opportunities with different coatings and embossing procedures provide a distinctive appearance for the beverage can.
