Spendrups uses a Steinecker wet mill
As part of a turnkey installation project, Spendrups, the well-known Swedish family-owned brewery, has invested not only in a new bottling line, but also in extensive brewhouse upgrading o. The brewery’s strongest brands are Spendrups, Norrlands Guld and the premium brand Mariestads, plus Loka. And since 2001, the brewery in Grängesberg has also been brewing and bottling Heineken under licence. Today, Spendrups produces a total of about 1.5 million hl of beer at three facilities.
To upsize capacities while simultaneously modernising the brewing process, the existing Steinecker brewhouse at Grängesberg has since the beginning of 2007 been gradually brought up to the latest state of the art with sophisticated Steinecker technology. A 40 t-Powermill wet mill was, so speak, part of the starting package. so that now optimum malt quality is being fed into the brewing process.
Power is the operative word for this wet mill, rated as it is at 40 t/h: the milling control ensures even feed through the rolls that the. The design of the continuous steeping device shaft has been precisely matched to the flow behaviour of malt, which creates the best possible precondition for determining the steeping time. The combined wet and dry milling provided in the Powermill system enables high malt quality and optimally conditioned, ultra-elastic husks to be consistently achieved, ensuring superlative lautering results and speeds.
