enviro – Krones’ programme for sustainable products

Krones machines deliver outstanding performance. We also want them to use resources efficiently. That is why Krones launched the enviro programme in April 2008, with the aim of establishing an industry standard for machines’ energy and media efficiency and eco-friendliness. Under this programme, project teams analyse the products and systems as they are and then determine what requirements they must meet in terms of performance, resource savings, ergonomics, total cost of ownership, and return on investment. These specifications are then incorporated into the entire product development process, from R&D all the way through to sales.

The keen interest the beverage industry showed in enviro at the 2009 drinktec has reinforced our determination to assume a pioneering role in terms of sustainable products for the beverage and packaging machinery industry.

enviro was certified by TÜV SÜD in 2009. This independent certification enables Krones to award the enviro seal for efficient use of energy and media (gas, water) and environmental friendliness. In addition, Krones’ enviro pass provides a high level of transparency, enabling customers to compare the consumption data of different machines.

In the future, all new developments at Krones will be aligned with the criteria of our enviro sustainability programme. In addition, existing products will be optimised with respect to sustainability. More information and details on enviro are available here.
